Phillip Kupritz has been in private practice since 1968. He began his firm as Phillip Kupritz and Associates and today is one of the two principals of K2 Studio. Over the course of his practice, he has been the architect and city planner for over a billion dollars of construction. This has given him an in-depth knowledge of low income tax credits, historic tax credits and T.I.F. financing. Phil has a strong background with various state and federal/HUD programs created for multi-family housing and senior living. This large cross section of experience has also given Phil a thorough familiarity with local and national building codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility laws and the LEEDS Certification of several current projects. Because he has been and is currently now a developer for several projects, he has also squired a working knowledge of today’s financing tools and performas.

 

Phil is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Master of Architecture Degree. Phil has been dedicated to excellence in architecture and has received numerous design awards. He has committed his life to the simultaneous pursuit of teaching and professional practice. He is a Professor Emeritus in Architecture at the University of Illinois, Chicago where he was a tenured Professor of Architecture for 40 years. He has served on many committees and was very active in the School of Architecture City Design Center with built community based projects in Lawndale, Pilsen and Lakeview in Chicago.

Matthew Kupritz

Matthew has been in private practice since 1998 with 23 plus years overall experience in the Architectural profession. To ensure excellence in design and technical proficiency, he is directly involved in the development of all projects. Having managed a diverse cross section of more than 2,500,000 dollars of construction, he has acquired a wide array of in-depth knowledge, form financing to detailing. He has gained a thorough familiarity of local and national building codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility laws and energy codes, inclusive of working with many state and federal/HUD programs, grants etc. Matt is currently working on a more committed approach toward an energy efficient and green design.

 

Matthew received his Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (with a year abroad in France), proceeding onto the University of Illinois, Chicago, Graduate School of Design where he received, with honors, a Master of Architecture. Also attending Southern California Institute of Architecture, Santa Monica, California and other such pursuits, he has continually looked to advance innovation in design and technical expertise.  Matthew has additionally taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago, for both undergraduate and graduate courses. He has received numerous awards, both individually and as part of K2.

Piotr Matejczyk, RA, NCARB

Piotr has been in the architectural profession since 2006. Throughout his career, Piotr has worked on a variety of design projects across the midwest, ranging from the micro to the macro scales. Projects include residential units (single and multi-family), commercial exteriors / interiors, entertainment venues, educational facilities and city-wide master planning. In addition to design experience, he has a thorough knowledge in building codes, zoning ordinances, accessibility and safety guidelines. It is important to Piotr that he not limit himself to any one particular style of architecture, but rather engage himself within all aspects of design and architecture.

Piotr received his Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois in Chicago and his Masters degrees in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, graduating top of his class at both universities.

In 2015, Piotr briefly stepped away from architecture, taking a position at Louis Vuitton in New York, where he focused on store planning and development. During his time at LV, Piotr gained valuable skills in project management and luxury retail development.
